Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are cemented to the outer surfaces of teeth to cover up imperfections in enamel. Discoloured fillings, chips, spaces and stains can all be concealed with a porcelain veneer. Esthetically, veneers look and feel like natural teeth and will not discolour over time.

Two appointments are necessary for porcelain veneers. At the first appointment, the teeth are conservatively prepared and a mould (impression) is made. This impression is sent to the lab. In the interim, plastic temporary veneers are fabricated so you are not without a covering on your teeth while the porcelain veneers are being fabricated. Custom shading/staining is necessary to ensure proper matching with your natural teeth. Custom shading/staining does require an extra trip to the dental lab, but it is well worth the effort!

At the second visit, no freezing is required. The plastic temporary veneers are removed and the porcelain veneers are then cemented into place.
