Polishing

As part of your dental cleaning at our office, your teeth are polished to give a shiny, whiter smile prior to you leaving.

Polishing removes plaque and external stains on the teeth (ie. coffee, tea, red wine, cigarettes). Plaque is an irritant to your gums and can cause inflammation (gingivitis) and presents as a soft, sticky, yellowish film located mostly around the gumline of your teeth. Plaque also contains bacteria that can cause cavities. Removal of this plaque is of utmost importance in maintaining the health of your teeth and gums.
